The Judges Cottage
On Carmel Point the last vacant lot existed within a stones throw of the historic Tor House built by the poet Robinson Jeffers. The property was classified as environmentally sensitive habitat by Monterey County and the locals considered the property as their local park, never to be developed. The property owners were a federal judge from Kansas and his brother who wanted to develop the lot to its greatest potential.
Ray Parks and Associates was selected to create a Carmel Cottage so desirable that it may mitigate the open space loss and the neighbors would support the project. That strategy worked and the project was supported by the neighbors, approved by the Monterey County and California Coastal Commission, constructed on budget and sold at the anticipated Market price.
