Safeway

The Crossroads Shopping Center had an approved Master Plan which relocated the new Safeway next to the Carmel River and was to serve as a new anchor for the retail center. Ray Parks and Associates was selected as the Architect to design a new kind of Safeway with a village theme in an effort to be more harmonious with the rural setting of Carmel Hills.

The interiors for the new Safeway were inspired by the Village Market theme. At critical intersections within the store gathering places for people to eat and shop were developed. Interior spaces were developed to break up the standard configuration of a typical large grocery store.
